Why do entity types sometimes appear differently (e.g., “LLC” vs. “Limited Liability Company”)?
Entity type values come directly from each Secretary of State site. Some states use acronyms (LLC, LLP), while others spell them out (“Limited Liability Company”). Because there’s no universal standard, values vary. Clients should map state-returned entity types to their own internal categories (e.g., normalize “LLC” and “Limited Liability Company” → “LLC”) for consistency.
