Cobalt uses a confidence scoring system that evaluates multiple data points — such as business name, address, and registration details — to identify the most likely match when no exact result is found.
For some states, Cobalt checks multiple candidate records and compares their registration details (like status, filing number, and entity type) to refine the score. In others, only a single record can be expanded due to state-specific system limits.
