How does ZIP matching work?

ZIP is applied across all available fields (physical, mailing, registered agent). If the ZIP doesn’t match, the API does not relax automatically. Instead, it returns the best candidate plus an addressMatch flag so you can enforce your own rule (for example, require ZIP alignment).
